The following suggestion will alter how equipment is changed in battle to be more logical and provide more versatility.
ZURPG is a turn-based game that uses actions to do things. However, switching equipment does not count as an action, so it seems silly to only be able to do it at the start of your turn. Additionally, if you change your equipment at one point in the battle, there may be trouble involved later in figuring out what you changed to, especially when there are multiple guys switching, not to mention that the DM (or co-DM) has to also keep track of status effects.
Actions (Current)
The majority of all actions will consume the entirety of your turn. However, any spell labeled as a “Support Spell” can be used in addition to your main action, but it will cost 50% more than what it calls for (rounded up). The following actions can be performed:Switch Equipment
At the start of your turn, you can switch out any of your equipment. This does not count as an action, but this can only be done on the start of your turns.
You cannot switch your armor out during a battle. This includes headgear.
- Attack
- Use Spell
- Use Skill
- Use Item
- Charge
