"Where is HD, where's that quest you promised?"
Dear all other DMs that were gonna wait until that quest had started and passed:
Go ahead and run your quests. I'm not running it till summer, there's simply too many things to add and update, and many untested ideas that are intended to be in that quest, but I haven't the slightest clue if they're gonna work or not, so I'm gonna be expanding my DMing skills, story skills, dungeon skills, map skills especially, characters, etc.
I was going for something huge, and I still am. I like scale. However, scale without depth means there's a ton of meaningless space inbetween. Might as well just be grinding on stuff.
Not to mention the fact I got a second job in real life, so my availability in ZURPG has been cut down a bit.
That said, my next quest experiment is going to be something I don't think we've done yet in this game. I personally will be trying to cut down on the improv, so I don't know how much that's going to affect it... that is, I'll be trying out a DMing style that's been contrary to how I've been doing things for the last number of months. The quest style... I'm pretty sure we really haven't done this one yet, so... expect an announcement thread up in a week, and the quest should start in about two weeks.
On the plus side, something people were wondering about HD was that it was for all players simultaneously. I'm not doing everyone for this, but I'm doing multiple parties of different player levels. They may not intersect with each other, but their actions will have effects on the others, and that's mainly where my improv will be coming in. This is kind of a pre-test to see what happens when there's multiple parties in the general area and how they affect one another, in an indirect way.
