Dev, DM
Below is a list of the NPCs of ZURPG. Many of them are from the games, and a good many more have been added for ZURPG. A few of them may even be from other sources, like the mangas and the animated show.
Hyrule Castle
Kakariko Village
Kokiri Forest:
Lon Lon Ranch:
Subrosia
Hyrule Castle
Chudley
Most known for his pointy mustache and his snide attitude, Chudley is a quest dealer. Unlike his name might suggest, he's actually a slim and tall gentleman with a mustache that could probably stab someone. His house is (unfortunately for him) next to Monroe's, though he often sets up his business on the other side of the fountain.
Not many people enjoy Chudley's company, though his quests seem to offer the best rewards. That said, he seems to be asking for some of most difficult requests, some of which have never been completed. He's even under the impression that there's a dungeon directly below Lon Lon Ranch, though no one has ever found the entrance, so there's no proof of such a thing.

Ghost Hunter
Very little is known about this fellow. He only appears at night, at which point he runs a Poe Soul shop. People can come in and carry Poe Souls in bottles, selling the souls to the Ghost Hunter. However, it's unknown what he actually does with the souls. Some claim that he drinks the souls to keep himself alive. Others say that he's raising an undead army to take over Hyrule Castle. Sheik has kept a particularly close watch on him, though he has yet to do anything too conspicuous.
The Ghost Hunter is also the reason that there is an unofficial bounty on Shady, particularly his soul. Rather than the two shadiest beings in Hyrule Castle being buddies, they're actually not fond of each other. The Ghost Hunter apparently wants to "just see Shady's soul, being a Subrosian Poe and all". Shady is personally freaked out by him and stays as far away from him as possible.

Guardian of Light
This spirit owl is also known as Kaepora Gaebora, back from when he was alive. An owl that's extremely knowledgeable about the lands of Hyrule and its people, he supposedly died during an "accidental" fire while trapped inside of a building. Apparently, someone actually murdered the owl for being "excessive" and "annoying". However, the culprit was not searched for because there was no evidence of a corpse being found.
The Guardian of Light appears to be Rauru's familiar. The owl protects the Temple of Time and is able to close the portals when there appears to be suspicious activity. From time to time, he receives requests to bring fallen warriors from other parts of Hyrule to the Great Fairy's fountain, though he is not always successful.
There are rumors that Kaepora Gaebora did survive that fire untouched. Sightings have been reported of an owl with extreme eyebrows around Hyrule. Every time he appears, Rauru seems to be around moments after the owl disappears from sight.

Monroe
During the reign of Ganondorf, this guardsman managed to stay alive by sniping off Gibdos, using their skins as a disguise while sneaking around. Eventually, after killing a myriad of Stalfos through explosive traps and stealing their equipment, he created his own armory beneath the surface of the Town Market area. It's rumored he took down an Iron Knuckle by tricking enough Stalfos to stab it. In the end, they were all nuked with multiple super bombs.
Nowadays, he remains a crafty blacksmith that creates and fixes equipment using his underground armory. He charges quite a bit for things, but his work is matched only by Subrosia's Smithy. The two of them have never dueled, but if it were happen, it would supposedly destroy all of Hyrule Castle due to the rumored amount of traps that Monroe has laid throughout the entire place. Of course, he claims that there are no traps, but everyone still remains skeptical about that.

Rauru
A longtime citizen of Hyrule, Rauru is also known as the Guardian of Light, though since he doesn’t use that name anymore, he called his familiar that instead. He actually hasn’t appeared in Hyrule Castle up until Ganondorf was defeated, as there was no reason to watch over the Sacred Realm anymore. Rather, he claims that he can no longer reach the place, as the Temple of Time has sealed that ability. Seeing as no one can find the Master Sword, it’s probably in the Sacred Realm.
Rauru is one of the few people that knows about the roots of Hyrule. Of course, no one believes his stories about being around ages before during an older Hyrule, but most people enjoy listening to his stories anyways.
It is a wonder how he’s able to get to Goron City and Kokiri Village, considering how much his grand figure, grey beard and orange cloak make him stand out. In fact, no one ever sees him travel to these places - he just seems to appear there. However, there have been sightings of an owl prior to his visits.

Shady
After the link to Subrosia opened up, a suspicious figure wreathed in shadows appeared. He was immediately locked up, yet he escaped out of the window a minute later. He was later caught by Zelda, who locked him inside of a magical prison. After some talks and some proof from the Subrosians, Shady was released.
Shady is a Subrosian Poe. He doesn't torment or harass others - he teases them. Even though he can pass through every defense Hyrule Castle has, he hasn’t done anything considered harmful. After a week of teasing the residents of Hyrule Castle, Impa caught him and tossed him onto the Training Grounds, where he was forced to teach others the tricks of battle.
Within a day, he willingly accepted his new post. Another day, and everyone was afraid of him when he appeared to be summoning Darknuts, Wizzrobes, and other powerful and fearful creatures. It turns out that these were illusions. They are real in most aspects, except the most harm they can cause is to make people faint when they strike. Soon, the Training Grounds became an arena for people to test their skills against these illusions.
He even created a tutorial system that would first teach newbies the basics. After some practice, they could take the intermediate tutorial, later the advanced tutorial, and finally, the test of mastery. (Note - these do not yet exist for ZURPG. They are currently in WIP stages.)
Occasionally, Shady will wander outside of the castle. He's been seen as far as the peak of Death Mountain or the Gerudo Fortress. It's most likely because he can only create illusions of creatures that he's seen before, so by travelling, he is able to expand his knowledge.
Recently, he has tried expanding his powers to create an entire, illusionary dungeon. Of course, it only spans a few rooms for now, but as a result, it has given people the chance to practice dungeon raids. With time, this power may be improved and expanded to include full-sized dungeons; for now, he can only pull off (at most) a five-room dungeon once every few days.
He likes the people of Hyrule. They're not complete cowards; they're full of brave people, inspired by legends. He enjoys testing the abilities and merits of others, seeing what will break people and what people can achieve. He has been warned multiple times by Princess Zelda herself for unintentionally causing too much mental damage at times. Otherwise, he is well loved by the people of the castle. Though it's rumored that he's still scheming something sinister and that his kindness is a complete facade. After all, he is a Poe.

Sheik
Wearing clothes that bear the Eye of Truth symbol, Sheik is a rarely seen vigilante that appears only at night at Hyrule Castle. Since her face and hair are mostly masked, her gender has yet to be confirmed, though most people that have seen Sheik believe that Sheik is a woman.
When thieves try stealing something or there’s bad business during the night, a beautiful melody that is played on the harp is heard. At this point, the troublemakers run, but Sheik seems to know which way they’re going to run. She incapacitates them with needles that dull their senses, forcing them unconscious and leaving the remaining matters to the guards.

Shikashi
An old inhabitant to Hyrule, Shikashi returned to Hyrule Castle from Kakariko Village when Ganondorf fell. He would often walk around the town every day, giving good advice to people of good deeds and even troublemakers. One of them, Monroe, especially took heed of his advice, and it allowed him to live through Ganondorf's reign. Good ol' Shikashi, the townsfolk would say.
However, because of his wizard-like appearance, some people claim him to be the sorcerer that brought Magic to Hyrule. He simply smiles, laughs a bit, and tells people to make good use of the power that the gods have given them. There does seem to be one person that Shikashi is not friendly with, and that is Rauru. There are all sorts of different stories about their relations, though there is no certainty with any of these stories.

Zelda
Princess to Hyrule, Zelda is the only remaining member of the Royal Family. After Ganondorf backstabbed and killed her father, the old king, she has had to take over the role of King herself, though she often has trouble with larger matters. As such, she summons her guardian, Impa, to help her with such things.
No one has truly seen her fight, but after she easily confronted and captured Shady, she is rumored to have some pretty hefty powers outside of being able to seal the Evil King Ganon. One rumor claims she can use a ranged version of Din's Fire. Another claims that she can teleport - apparently, a guard that reported to her from the Keep went straight down to the Town Market, only to see her already there.
There is also a rumor of her being the ninja that runs around at night, taking care of thieves and other troublemakers. She claims to not know what anyone is talking about and instead praises the guards for doing their jobs.

Kakariko Village
Barnes
Barnes is a middle-aged man that has quite the obsession with bombs. Since coming to Kakariko and being right next to Death Mountain's Goron City, the Gorons have had to ban him. Rather, Barnes is only allowed to go to the bomb gardens once a week, or else every bomb would go off, causing Death Mountain to collapse, ravaging Kakariko Village and Hyrule Castle with its rubble. Barnes claims to be very careful with the bombs, though he did collapse the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern on accident. He was never friendly with Gorons, even in the other Hyrule he claimed to be from, and the Gorons here could say the same about him.
Surprisingly, Barnes is a complete coward. He'll do anything to mess around with bombs. When he's scared, however, he will comically pull down a mask, create a distraction, and run away. When he came to Kakariko Village, Renado asked the current owner of the bomb shop to share with Barnes so that he wouldn't run away from anyone. Since then, he's gotten a little bit better at not showing cowardice, though he's certainly anything but brave still.

Impa
As the longtime guardian to Princess Zelda, Impa is the Shadow Sage of the six sages. She protects Kakariko Village, though on occasion, she'll aid Hyrule Castle if the situation is bad enough. Impa is also the only remaining member of the Sheikah family, though the sudden appearance of Sheik has left many wondering if there are more.
After hearing that the Shadow Temple supposedly has a second entrance, Impa has spent her free time exploring the temple in an attempt to find it. As a result, no remnant of evil has dared to step into the temple. However, her attempts to find this other entrance have been futile, and the one that told her of this rumor disappeared from Hyrule right after Magic became a power available to anyone.

Luda
Daughter to Renado, Luda is a particularly cheery child. While her father says that she was troubled in the past, ever since they came to "New Kakariko Village" (as they call it), her spirits have lifted. She seems to be the type that enjoys the company of others, and many residents of Kakariko say that they would be sad without the happiness Luda brings everyday.
Every month, she travels with her father to Hyrule Castle. While it is a short caravan ride, it might as well be an adventure to her as she encounters many people even on the way to the castle. Luda enjoys learning about other people and other cultures. She hopes to someday visit all of Hyrule's locations. The path to Goron City has never stabilized, as the Gorons are always fending off Blaaz's minions as well as the Dodongos, so Luda has never had the chance to visit Goron City. One day, she hopes... one day.

Mutoh
Mutoh is the lead carpenter and blacksmith of Kakariko Village. He leads around a fair crew of lazy masons. Additionally, he also runs a Shield and Armor shop. Its quality is arguably better than Hyrule Castle's, and its prices usually run much cheaper. Because Kakariko Village lies directly between a mountain and a forest, Mutoh is able to get the materials he needs at any time.
Recently, with the aid of Darunia, he struck a diamond mine at Death Mountain. However, the reanimated skeleton of Vovolgia came by to guard the mine. Since then, Mutoh has been collaborating with Barnes to bring down that section of the mountain, though the Gorons are against the decision.
He may seem bossy, but it's only because his crew is so lazy. In reality, Mutoh is about as hard a worker as one can find. He may only run a shop for Shields and Armor, but he is skilled with a variety of weapons, particularly the hammer and the bow and arrow. Ever since the loss of his son, Grog, he would continue to talk about how lazy his son was, yet he did not regret having a son. He was a good son, up until the very end.

Renado
While Renado doesn't necessarily protect the village like Impa does, he does serve as the village leader. He actually wasn't originally a resident of the village - he simply appeared shortly after Ganondorf's defeat and displayed the skills a leader would have, unlike anyone else in the village. Since then, the village's defensive capabilities have increased, yet Renado's friendliness invites anyone with good intentions into the village to stay and rest.
Renado claims to have come from a different Hyrule, where there existed a Kakariko, though it wasn't the friendliest place around, as Bulbins would constantly rage in and out through the village. He doesn't know how he got to this Hyrule, though he is glad to still be with his daughter, Luda. Renado was surprised to see his friend Barnes walk into the village a year later.
When even Impa cannot help Princess Zelda with the problems a king should deal with, she appears in Kakariko Village (more rumors that she can teleport) and asks the aid of Renado. As usual, he responds calmly, as if it were never an issue to begin with. To him, a problem is simply a solution wearing a disguise. It needs only be unmasked.

Kokiri Forest:
Mido
A true warrior at heart that always finds reasons to get into fights and have rivals, Mido is the "true" leader of Kokiri Village, albeit an idiot. Anytime anyone has issues of the physical demeanor to be dealt with, they ask Mido to help. He has trained for years to catch up to the Hero of Legend, his eternal rival... mainly because that hero was best friends with Saria. Obviously, Mido loves her, though when she looks up to think from time to time, there is a sense of longing in her eyes. Mido claims it to be no matter, though others have noticed the same thing from Mido on occasion as well.
He is actually very strong and has been able to break up every fight that has broken out in Kokiri Village so far, even with some of the high level travelers. The only thing he was unable to defend against was a fever that caught him right as an enraged Gohma attacked the village. Were he not weakened, he may have been able to take care of it, as some lower level travelers came to the aid and were able to defeat the Gohma with the aid of a Golden Arrow.
Regardless of how strong Mido is physically, it seems to be the opposite in the mental area. Whenever he gets into a fight of mental capabilities with someone else in order to prove that he's better, he gets owned. The one that has owned him more times than anyone else is Renado from Kakariko Village, Mido's new "ultimate rival". Though it does not seem like he'll be surpassing Renado anytime soon.

Saria
Saria is probably the only Kokiri that looks like a child without acting like one. Instead, she remains composed and polite with a faint smile at most times. People liken her to Zelda, because they both speak similarly. Saria is the leader of Kokiri Village as well as the Forest Sage, from the Six Sages. It seems she was once best friends with the Hero of Hyrule, though it seems she thought more of him than just friends.
Oddly enough, even with all of these traits, she is not the "true" leader of the village. She spends most of her time in her house, which has transformed into a spiral library that goes all the way to the ceiling. A good number of travelers seemed to enjoy reading, so when the New Deku Tree used his Magic to add tree tops to all of the houses, he also helped expand Saria's House. It's now connected to the Inn, which has a lounge for anyone to read, rest, chat, and eat.
From time to time, Saria leaves Kokiri Village, and not just out of exploration of the Lost Woods or the Sacred Grove. Every six months, all of the sages gather at Hyrule Castle Keep's Throne Room with Zelda for the Six Sages Summit. It's unknown what they do or talk about there, but Darunia is often heard raucously laughing by the end of it. Saria always exits with a smile on, sometimes giggling, which is a rare sight for someone that's usually formal.

Lon Lon Ranch:
Ingo
Ingo is the younger brother of Talon, both of whom run the ranch. A crazed expression is always plastered on his face, so it's unknown if he's plotting something, seeing as he was practically an anarchist ruler under Ganondorf's reign previously. But he seems friendly enough, so everyone trusts him. Then again, ever since the Keeper found out about Lon Lon Ranch's giant watchtower and took residence in it, Ingo (and anyone else) at Lon Lon Ranch hasn't dared to do anything.
Malon
The daughter of Talon, Malon is the caretaker for the horses at Lon Lon Ranch. She doesn't hold any of the races. Instead, she just calmly rides around the ranch from time to time, and on occasion, around Hyrule Field during the daytime. On her off time, she is usually seen looking up towards the sky. When asked about what she's thinking about, she'll reply, "Oh, just the old days. That's all." Obviously, she continues to think about Link and Epona.
Talon
Talon is the older brother Ingo, both of who run the ranch. He seems a tame person, one that is very friendly to work with and hosts various mini-games. In terms of actually running the ranch, although he's not as lazy as he was before Ingo went berserk, he does seem to slack off from time to time. Malon seems to take over whenever Talon goes "absent" (napping), though the instant Talon awakes and notices Malon doing his work, he goes into a work frenzy for a while.
Until he naps again.
Until he naps again.
The Keeper
For whatever reason, the storage shed at Lon Lon Ranch is at the bottom of a very tall watchtower. One day, a cloaked figure known only as The Keeper took residence at the top of the watchtower. For a little while, Ingo and Talon protested against this Keeper, only to be sniped from the top of the tower by pebbles from a slingshot. They sent the guards in, but they were sniped by pebbles relentlessly before they could even get to the tower. Eventually, they all just gave up, though in time, they seemed to enjoy the existence of The Keeper. Anytime someone would try to steal something from the ranch, he would just snipe them with some pebbles until the perpetrator was caught. So far, the longest recorded shot by The Keeper was from his tower to the entrance of the ranch. Apparently, he recognized someone he hated and kept shooting him until the guy left.
Subrosia
Rosa
A female Subrosian that's easily distinguishable by the ribbon tied and glued onto her cloak, Rosa is a "lovely" explorer. That is to say, she goes on "dates" with people she deems heroic, though these dates always end up in some temple or dungeon. Ever since the "Legend of Seasons" disappeared, no one seems to be "worthy" enough to "complete" a date with Rosa. It's unexplained how she gets out of these dangerous situations when her "hero" has run away, but the next day, she's seen asking yet another victim to go on a date with her.
While the Subrosians were originally jealous of the "Legend of Seasons", they pity everyone that falls prey to her whims. She enjoys going somewhere dangerous, a place she can't call home, and then having a hero rescue her from the distress. Rosa also seems to have fun finding artifacts. For this reason, Smithy is always trying to find a chance to "inspect" the artifacts that Rosa has come across. He has yet to succeed.

Signer
His actual name is unknown, but because this Subrosian fellow always seems to carry signs around and talk about them, other Subrosians eventually called him Signer. Visitors have joked about creating a Whack-a-Sign game, though Signer seems opposed to the destruction of signs. On occasion, Smithy steals what sign he's carrying because he's in need of wooden handles. Somehow, the signs continue to return. Smithy's poor joke nearly killed a traveler, claiming that Signer keeps "assigning" every day, and that's how his signs come back.
Smithy
An old Subrosian with a gray mustache and beard that rivals that of Gandalf, he is the blacksmith of Subrosia. He seems to be on friendly terms with Monroe, the blacksmith of Hyrule Castle, though it is believed that there is a secret rivalry between them.
He loves artifacts. Every day, he'll create an array of new weapons, shields, armors and tools. Usually, everything he creates every day is bought, whether it’s by Subrosian warriors or travelers from Hyrule and Termina. Because of this, he is rarely able to leave his shop in search of artifacts and materials to create his own artifacts.
Smithy is one of the few Subrosians that is able to travel outside of Subrosia without complaining that it's "too cold". While he does not enjoy how chilly it is compared to Subrosia, his love of exploration and finding artifacts has allowed him to move on and adapt to the lower temperatures.
Most of the time when he's traveling, Smithy is scouring the whole range of Death Mountain. Already he's found several swords to add to his collection. He intends to keep going until the mountains no longer have any valuables, though he has trouble entering the Fire Temple, as it is Blaaz's domain.

Most of the time when he's traveling, Smithy is scouring the whole range of Death Mountain. Already he's found several swords to add to his collection. He intends to keep going until the mountains no longer have any valuables, though he has trouble entering the Fire Temple, as it is Blaaz's domain.
Strange Doc
As one of the Strange Brothers, Doc is essentially a troll. His speech resembles that of a parrot on crack, and often times, it's impossible to tell just what he's saying. Doc keeps using his "stethoscope" on everything, commentating on the living condition of even an Ore Chunk or a Rupee. In actuality, his stethoscope is just a rock tied to a necklace made of lavarope.
He has been known to trick a Moblin into thinking it was sick, at which point Doc bashed the Moblin's head with the stethoscope. "This treatment rocks! It took care of this fellow's disease with ease." Doc is quite possibly the only living being with jokes as bad Smithy's jokes. Oddly enough, he rhymes better than his brother Hat does.

Strange Hat
If Doc wasn't Strange enough, Hat just makes it crazier. He attempts to rhyme with nearly every phrase in a very gentlemanly manner. However, his rhymes include some extremely random words, some that he claims to have pulled out of his Hat. The thing is, he wears his cloak over his sombrero hat. So while he speaks classy, his spontaneous, baffling words and his brilliant stupid attire causes him to come off as comically ridiculous. Nonetheless, he remains completely serious, even especially in the presence of Doc.
