Should we keep Auras? - WindStrike - 11-27-2015

Whoops, forgot to bring this up when I was rolling the 2.0 draft. Ah well. Anyhow, just asking a general question of whether we should keep Auras or not. The reason I'm asking is that they kind of overlap with Field Effects, and they tend to get forgotten amidst all the other effects goin' on. Granted, keeping track of effects should theoretically get easier with 2.0's consolidation/simplification efforts, buuut I figure I'll ask anyways.


Twill keep this open for 2 weeks, and whichever option has more than votes wins.


Should Auras stay, expect there to be more of them and for them to matter more... along with moar counters to them.
  • However, Auras will specifically be allies-only, instead of some of them being degenerating to the other team.
Should they get nuked, all existing ones get nuked (hint, there's not that many) and the stuff that specifically counters Auras gets nuked too (ie Anti-Aura).


Personally, I'm fine with either option, so I'm not going to vote on this. Anyhow, vote and discuss! The poll will end Friday, December 11th.

I'm rather partial, but either way, if we do decide on keeping them, limit it to one aura per player or one per team or something. Otherwise we are back with a ton of effects again. Razz

It already has a one per team rule. I believe the only aura that actually got regularly used was Rejuvenation Aura, aka everyone recovers Hearts & Magic at the start of each round. There were a handful of degenerating ones from enemies, but that's about it.

Okay, the vote ran 50/50, but after thinking about it and building some 2.0 stuff, I'm gonna kill the tiebreaker and I'm voting to nuke Auras. However, should we want to re-expand the game's features down-the-road and add Auras back, it can be done.
