Welcome to the club, sir Alestance. Right now, we're in hiatus (although there is one quest that needs to be finished up along with another solo quest sometime next month), but until we're off hiatus in July, we unfortunately can't do anything for new players. If you want to go ahead and set up your character, go for it.
However, there is a lot of stuff that needs to be done still, if you're interested in helping out on that. I've had multiple people poke me for "what can I do until ZURPG is back", so I will probably make a list of that pretty soon.
Once again, welcome to the community, and thank you for joining, even though it's not the best time... yet. Soon-ish though, we shall return with a vengeance!
