Listing base stat growths - Orithan - 11-24-2014

Now that we are rewriting and rebalancing everything to make it easier for people to DM and write quests, I would like to propose that we list base stat growths on enemies in the enemy database so that DMs have an idea of what stats to give to enemies when they write their quests. This box is listed instead of the standard enemy stat box at the top of the enemy profile in the enemy database.

Formatting:
Base Stat Growth
Power: # Points per level
Courage: # Points per level
Wisdom: # Points per level
Hearts: #/# Points per level
Magic: #/# Points per level OR The cost of the action with the highest Magic cost *#
These values are obtained by first determining the enemy's stats at Level 10 and then dividing them by 10. There are some exceptions, mainly regarding Magic, but this is a general rule.

Examples (with stats being provided alongside calculations):
Tektite, Red (Level 10, No Magic)
Octorok, Red (Level 10, Fixed Magic)
Wisp (Level 10, Standard Magic)
With this system (when you are going for a Fixed Magic system as per the Octorok example), you will most likely have stat points left over (or insufficent stat points when scaling backwards). DMs will have to fill that in themselves by adding or subtracting points from certain stats.

I was wondering how to actually do this, and I guess this works. Ideally, I'd like some sort of automatic-system, but that's kind of impossible. I suppose, with stats, something we could do is instead of listing "Base Stat Growth", all we need is the Level 10 variants of each enemy, and from there, anyone can derive the stat growth using a simple, handy-dandy guide.

Something else I'd like, if possible, is to put scaling on abilities and skills of the enemies. That, unfortunately, may prove to be harder, because it won't be a static growth. Not to mention that based on the results of this thread, and how there's a bit of a gap between each tier level, one way to prevent that gap from being an issue is to make it so enemies don't immediately auto-scale into the next tier, but rather gradually do it. We may need to pull up some Excel on this sucker to pull that off.

Why use Excel when we can collaborate online with Google Docs' Spreadsheets which can do pretty much the same thing as Excel can do, except online and multiple people can work on it at the same time?

I keep forgetting that exists. Thanks for the reminder; we'll use that, lol.

I might as well drop the listing. While it seemed like a neat idea at first glance, I think the subjective approach of listing all the enemy stats at Level 10 and working your way through there to be more flexible than it, not to mention create more balanced stat spreads.
