09/15/16 - A Dungeon Romp - Crypt of the Damned - Sephiroth - 08-26-2016
This quest has additional rules that it falls under. I have a dungeon all mapped out and ready to go. Testing some new mechanics for ZURPG dungeon running.
Session 1 <~DM> === SESSION START === * DM magically teleports Bob, Nigel_Splashberry and Nimono into what appears to be a decrepit dungeon entrance room. Cobwebs fill the room, along with random rubble on the ground. The walls appear to have withstood the test of time, as they're quite sturdy, despite the brickwork looking all delapidated. To the south of your position, you can feel the warm sunlight from the sun entering the room. A mysical barrier seals the group within the dungeon, * DM however. To the north of you stands a lone open doorway. <&Bob> Ahh, dat's da stuff. Good ol' bein' kicked 'round an' landin' in random places in da world. Good times, eh buds-....... <+Nimono> waaaaaaaugh! * Bob looks at Nimono and Nimono. * Nimono tilts his head <&Bob> ..... well, furry guy says waugh, dat's good 'nuff fer me! <&Bob> FER DA WAAAAAAGH! * Nimono shrugs and exits the room to the north <%Nigel_Splashberry> Yooooo duuuuuude * Bob charges to the north and goes for a flying kick of kicking to the open do- oh, crap, I misread that. I assumed the door was closed. ........ fsteak <%Nigel_Splashberry> This place is lit, man * DM watches as a flying kick attempts to land Nimono square in the back of the head. <&Bob> oops <&Bob> what's the roll, courage vs. courage? <~DM> Kick <~DM> REQUIREMENTS: Two legs <~DM> DESCRIPTION: Why run when you can kick the crap out of your enemy? Kick a target with your leg! <~DM> Roll your Courage +5 dice vs. targets' Courage dice <~DM> Damage: Halved <+Nimono> $17d10 <&Navi> Nimono: You rolled 17 Dice with 10 Sides. Successes: 26. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Hey man, it must be nice getting a nice boot to the skull! <&Bob> ........ oops <%Nigel_Splashberry> Duuuuude, that kick is rad <+Nimono> 26-7-2/2 = 9 <+Nimono> 3/12h, 17/17m <&Bob> (is there any chance that, because Nimono is so short, I kicked so high I went over his head? that was a high courage roll...) * Nimono falls unconscious <%Nigel_Splashberry> Oh man, dude, you knocked out his lights! <~DM> *Nimono takes 2 hearts Damage as Bob barely scratches the surface and flies into the next room. <+Nimono> oh ok <&Bob> DOH! <+Nimono> 10/12h, 17/17m * Nimono glares at Bob <&Bob> Me's real sorry matey, me's really is. 'ere, matey... * Bob uses Heal Beam on Nimono, heal 4 hearts back. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Whoa there buddy, that was some weird time framing skills there. What, did a random force come by to witness the insanity? * Nimono continues glaring <&Bob> 25h, 5m <%Nigel_Splashberry> Yo, uh, are we going to keep on moving, pal? * Bob looks around in da new room 'e's in. <&Bob> Dunno, da room don't seem ta know wat it is yet, so me's not sure whethers ta keep goin' or not. * Nimono rubs his head and grumbles as he looks around the room <%Nigel_Splashberry> Do you not worry, my dude! I have bombs! ... I think. <~DM> *Bob, however manages to land on two feet in front of the next north door in the 2nd room, which is quite large. Its a square-shaped room, again with cobwebs hanging from the walls, and random rubble scattered about. To the south is the entrance you just entered the room in; to the north is a doorway. On the west wall is also another doorway, however something about this doorway is conspicious. There's a large blue panel on the floor in front of it. On the <~DM> East wall is ... Well, you can't see what's on the east wall due to the bright red barrier blocking your view. Could be something behind it too. In the center of the room, right in front of Bob is a random fountain. * Nimono hops into the fountain <%Nigel_Splashberry> Well, that room sure did take it's lovely time to restructure itself! <~DM> *Nimono hops into. ... some soothing, cool water that magically recovers Nimono to full Hearts and Magic. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Whoooooooa duuuuude. Mind if I surf on that fountain? * Nimono splashes water at Nigel and Bob <~DM> *Nigel_Splashberry could surf on the fountain, but lacks a proper surfboard. * Nigel_Splashberry pulls out his Lizalfos Brandplank Smashboard * Bob actually can surf on i- oh wait, the signature move isn't written yet..... he can't. -_- * Nigel_Splashberry then proceeds to surf, on the fountain, yo. <&Bob> Woah. Dat's a good surfy boardy. Me's gots ta try some hookshot surfin' wit dat! * Bob steps into ze fountain. <~DM> *Nigel_Splashberry suddenly receives a Red Rupee for his mad surfin' skills. <&Bob> If'n da furry is gonna splash sum water at me, me moight as well be fully dubmerged! <%Nigel_Splashberry> Duuuuude, look at this Ruby I somehow obtained! <%Nigel_Splashberry> ... Is it a Ruby or a Rupee? <%Nigel_Splashberry> Whatevs <&Bob> Let's see 'ere... <+Nimono> if it's a ruby, i want it * Bob goes to the large blue panel next to the west doorway... and steps on it. <&Bob> Me's wonders if dis is gonner do somefin'. * Nimono hops out of the fountain and investigates the strange east wall barrier <~DM> *Bob simply stands on a blue panel that does absolutely nothing. <&Bob> .... * Bob rolls for self-anger. 1 = calm, 2 = the panel is goin' down. <&Bob> $1d2 <&Navi> Bob: You flipped 1 coin. Result: Heads. <&Bob> Hmm, guess dis floppy button dingy ain't worth me toime. <~DM> *Nimono approaches the red barrier, which simply is not amused. It stares back blankly at Nimono. * Bob turns around and helps Nimono in his staring contest against the red barrier. * Nimono shrugs and approaches the north doorway <~DM> *Nimono, however, can feintly make out what appears to be a Locked Door behind the barrier. <+Nimono> I guess the only place we can go is north! <+Nimono> So let's go! * Nimono exits to the north <&Bob> $1d2 <&Navi> Bob: You flipped 1 coin. Result: Heads. * Bob is still calm. <&Bob> You win dis one, red bear-rear! * Bob follows Nimono north. <&Bob> (dey see me looooadin'. dey haaaaatin'. dey call me bob n' slashy) <~DM> *Nimono and Bob enters a new room, which is a bit of a long hallway. At the end of this hallway stands a fairly generously-decorated doorway with what appears to be a complicated locking mechanism on it. <~DM> At the center of the hallway stands a lone chest. * Nimono rushes the chest and tries to open it! <&Bob> ... who sticks a chest wit probably wot's gonna be a key to da door in da same room? Dat's not logic. It's GENIUS! ..... wot's a genius? * Nigel_Splashberry gets off the sarfbread and follows the party, like a rad dude. <~DM> *Nimono easily opens the chest and finds an old piece of parchment inside of it. <&Bob> (auto-followin', afk for a bit, hopefully be back in 10 minutes, give or take) <~DM> *Upon closer inspection, it appears to be the Dungeon Map of the dungeon. ... Might want to hold on to it. * Nimono holds the map above his head and hums the item get tune <~DM> https://zurpg.sephiroth.ws/thread-1102.html <&Kefka> ZURPG: 09/15/16 - A Dungeon Romp - Crypt of the Damned <~DM> Dungeon Map added. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Whooooooooa duuuuuude, that map looks rad! <~DM> (No need to map the dungeon out in Google Docs now, eh?) <+Nimono> Hmm <%Nigel_Splashberry> Well, friends, it would appear we need to adventure to that weird room to the left! * Nimono checks the door to the north <%SubEye-College> ((I used Google Spreadsheets)) <+Nimono> So, looks like we'll need the boss key for this thing. <+Nimono> It's... It's... <+Nimono> IT'S SO FREAKING UGLY! EUGHHHH * Nimono exits the room to the south to get away from the ugly boss door >< <%Nigel_Splashberry> Whoa there buddy, might want to calm down and take a chill pill! <%Nigel_Splashberry> ... Do those exist? <~DM> *Nimono and Bob return to the Central Chamber. * Nigel_Splashberry heads back to the Central Centre Chamber of Central Chambers <+Nimono> Hmm... So which way can we go now...? <+Nimono> I guess west! * Nimono opens the west door <~DM> *Nimono easily opens the west door, peering into yet another cobweb-filled chamber. <+Nimono> Ugghhh, so many cobwebs... <~DM> *You also begin to smell something that might make your stomach churn. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Obviously, there needs to be a bone zone! <%Nigel_Splashberry> ... Or a gigantic spider, whatever floats your goat. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Or was it boat? <+Nimono> uggghhhhh, what's that smell!? <~DM> *Nigel_Splashberry suddenly feels a bone drop from the ceiling. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Well, it would appear that I was... <%Nigel_Splashberry> Boned <~DM> (So, action? Or you guys gonna keep peering into the next room?) <%Nigel_Splashberry> Now, where did this bone come from, buddy? <%Nigel_Splashberry> Surely, it HAS to come from the top! <%Nigel_Splashberry> Is it a spider? I don't know! Man, this gets weird! <~DM> *Nigel_Splashberry looks up and sees what appears to be the remains of a skeleton that's missing a few bones, still stuck to a large cobweb. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Well, it would appear that guy didn't have a lovely day at all! <%Nigel_Splashberry> I wonder if he left any loot up there... <%Nigel_Splashberry> Nah, it probably decomposed. * Nimono checks the room <~DM> *suddenly, a small rat comes out of a crack in the wall and speeds into the west room, scurrying past Nimono, who's still standing in the central room looking into the west wing. * Nimono goes through the doorway <%Nigel_Splashberry> Whoa there buddy, was that a rattata? <+Nimono> i dunno, but all I know is, I wanna eat it <+Nimono> I'm hungry <+Nimono> No wait... I can't digest meat, what am I thinkin' <%Nigel_Splashberry> Well, that rat may or may not contain the secrets of the universe! <%Nigel_Splashberry> ... Or, well, the secrets of this cobweb-infested area <~DM> *Nimono (And Bob, who's on auto-follow) enters the West Wing. This room is rectangular in shape, and sports yet another of those blue panels on the floor next to the east doorway you folk entered from. This room, much like the others, is filled with cobwebs, however it also has a pile of bones near the west wall. To the south is yet another red barrier, and to the north is another doorway. * Nimono steps on the blue panel <~DM> *Nimono is already standing on said blue panel, as it's next to the doorway he just went through. * Nigel_Splashberry follows the rest of the party, reluctant of the lack of plot. * Nimono stomps up and down on the panel <~DM> *Nigel finally enters the scene as well, while Nimono rapidly jumps up and down. <~DM> *The blue panel, however, just stares at Nimono blankly. Reluctant of the lack of plot. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Man, are those a pile of boned bones I see? <+Nimono> <~DM> *There's no sign of the rat that entered the room. * Nimono continues into the room <~DM> *Nigel has yet another bone drop from the ceiling onto his head. <%Nigel_Splashberry> I wonder, does anyone want a bone to pick with over at that bone pile? <%Nigel_Splashberry> Dude, I keep getting them bones a droppin' on my head, bro. Maybe I should turn one into FireBone and another into WaterBone! <~DM> *The bone pile just sits there, staring blankly into Nigel's soul. * Nimono shrugs and just goes through the north door * Nigel_Splashberry picks up the bone that was dropped, and stashes it for a later boning. <~DM> *Nimono enters the next room, this room has a large crystal that's embedded atop a sturdy base. This crystal almost makes it look like an oversized crystal ball. <+Nimono> ! * Nimono leaps onto the crystal * Nigel_Splashberry heads on towards the northern room, like a boss <~DM> There's a blue panel on floor by the west wall of the room, and another of those red barriers to the east. <~DM> *Nimono leaps up onto the crystal, which seems to do nothing. <+Nimono> Hrrmmmm... <+Nimono> How large is the room, and how big is the crystal? <~DM> *Nigel enters the room and sees Nimono leap up on a large crystal. This room is about half the size of the central chamber, and the crystal is about the size of a beach ball. <~DM> *if beach balls were even a thing. <+Nimono> (I'll rephrase: how TALL is the room?) * Bob suddenly awakens from his auto-follow coma. <&Bob> Ooh, dat's a shoiny ball. <~DM> *The ceiling appears to be about 9-feet above the ground. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Y'know, with all these blue panels, there may be a thing where we should step on as many as we can around the area or something. Maybe. * Nimono attempts to pocket the crystal <~DM> *Nimono, unfortunately, cannot seem to cause the crystal to budge. <&Bob> But dere's only 1 in each room so far. Me's not so sure we should split up. <+Nimono> Hrmmm... <+Nimono> Guess there's only one thing to do! <+Nimono> Guys, stand back! <&Bob> KILL IT WITH FIRE- I mean... do wotevah. * Bob stands back. * Nigel_Splashberry heads back to the entrance of the room * Nimono focuses magic energies into himself and Enlarges! <+Nimono> 12/12h, 12/17m <+Nimono> (DESCRIPTION: Once charged, you can activate the burst of Magic to suddenly grow in size, larger than his teammates and probably most of his enemies. Who's the small guy now?) * Nimono then attempts to yank the crystal off its base <~DM> *Nimono suddenly becomes ginormous, dwarving even the size of Bob. <&Bob> Now DAT'S a big furry guy! ...... please don't kill me. >_< <+Nimono> COME ON YOU STUPID CRYSTAL <%Nigel_Splashberry> Well, now we wait for a giant spider! <&Bob> Spidah? <~DM> *Nimono, however, is still unable to cause the crystal ball to budge. However, from the sheer force of Nimono's pull, it suddenly reacts. A large blue barrier sprouts out of the blue panel on the west wall, while the red barrier on the east wall dissapates, and becomes a red panel on the ground. <+Nimono> Ooh! <+Nimono> Ah, i see now. It's a crystal switch. * Nimono attempts to pick up crystal and base together <+Nimono> I WANT MY PORTABLE CRYSTAL SWITCH, DARN IT <&Bob> Me thinks yer s'posed ta hit da ding, not picks it up. <~DM> *Nimono's attempt to thwart the DM's plans is not going to work, as the crystal switch is unable to be moved. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Hold on friends, I want to try something <+Nimono> Well yes, but think of it this way: If i can pick it up and take it with us, we could flip the switches whenever we want! <%Nigel_Splashberry> It might kill me, though <+Nimono> Oh? * Nigel_Splashberry stands ontop the lowered red barrier <+Nimono> Oh, i see what you're planning * Nimono smacks the crystal <~DM> *Nigel_Splashberry is instantly disentegrated by the sheer force of the red barrier re-materializing upon him while the blue barrier retracts back into the floor. <+Nimono> ........................................................................................................oops <&Bob> Well, 'e did say it moight kill 'em... <&Bob> .... <~DM> *Nigel_Splashberry respawns back at the entrance of the room, missing a heart. <%Nigel_Splashberry> 13h, 10m <%Nigel_Splashberry> WORTH IT <&Bob> ... me's not healin' ya fer dat. * Bob hits the crystal again. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Don't worry, pal, Lizalfos need no heals! <+Nimono> Oh how i wish the doorways were bigger so I could stay like this! Oh well. * Nimono shrinks back down to his normal size <~DM> *Bob causes the red barrier to retract and the blue barrier to come back into place. <&Bob> Kay, now we's got da dings where dey sposed ta. Back down to da previous roomy! <+Nimono> Yup! * Bob heads south to the West Wing. * Nimono races out of the room after Bob * Nigel_Splashberry follows the rest <~DM> *The party re-enters the west wing, only to notice the red barrier on the south door is no longer there, but instead is a red panel on the floor. However they're unable to return to the central chamber now due to the blue barrier blocking the way back out to the east. <&Bob> Well dat's nifty. <+Nimono> Makes sense. Though... I wonder how we'll get to the central room with the barriers down * Nimono shrugs <+Nimono> Oh well! * Nimono heads through the south door * Nigel_Splashberry follows the rest. <~DM> *Nimono heads south, into another room, however as he enters the room he can hear the loud scritching of something. There's also a conspicious bone pile in the center of the room. <+Nimono> Aaaaaaa that noise * Nimono covers his ears <+Nimono> That noise is annoying! >:< <~DM> *Nigel joins Nimono in the south room. * Bob joins them. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Well, it would appear that the bone pile got boned <&Bob> Wot noise? * Bob looks up towards the ceiling. <%Nigel_Splashberry> Pretty humerus <~DM> *As Bob enters the room, the door behind you shuts and locks itself with strong iron bars. <+Nimono> GYEH! <~DM> *Bob looks up, only to see the fangs of a feroucious Skulltulla hanging from its web. * Nimono looks up as well <~DM> *Suddenly the bone pile jumps to life! * Nigel_Splashberry looks up to the Skully, and then exclaims "Well, that guy sure looks like fun." <+Nimono> is that a...s....s......s....sp.... * Nigel_Splashberry looks back to the bone pile that turned into a thing <+Nimono> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA <%Nigel_Splashberry> Annnnnnd that pile of bones turned alive and was not amused by my humerus joke! <+Nimono> NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONOONONONONONONOONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO <~DM> *You can also hear the howl of a Wolfos as it shows up from the darkness. <~DM> $init r <%Nigel_Splashberry> Whoa there buddy, you might want to calm down, or you might get a spider bite! <&Navi> DM: No battle in progress. <+Nimono> SPIDER NO <+Nimono> NO NO NO NO NO <~DM> $init 1d18 Stalchild <&Navi> DM: Stalchild's initiative roll has been entered.
