Guardian of Fire

A dragon with a massive stomach and an exaggerated neck. His back is red while its front is tan, and his facial features are fierce and distinct, with a gaze from its yellow eyes that can pierce through anyone and long, feathery ears that flow with the wind. Oddly enough, his wings are rather small, yet he's able to fly fluidly and effortlessly.

Valoo was the creator of Death Mountain. Fire and lava was his domain, so he built a volcano to be his home. Many were afraid of him at first, but a few brave ones met with him and found he was actually quite friendly. The Gorons were the first inhabitants of Death Mountain, and Valoo helped them build their city. So long as they didn't screw with the volcano or attempt to bring harm, Valoo would accept them as his own children. In fact, as Valoo often lounged all day in his volcano, it's probably the reason he gained such a large belly.

As Valoo passed on, he would become the Goron's god, though when Volvolgia took over Death Mountain and Valoo's spirit did not come to stop it, the Gorons eventually stopped believing in Valoo. For a short period of time, they accepted Volvolgia as their new god, until he began to rampage and eat the Gorons.

Since the restoration of Hyrule from Ganondorf's defeat, the legend of Valoo seems to have returned. Several Gorons have gone out on a quest to find Valoo's spirit, to prove the legends of the past. For now though, Valoo's existence remains a mystery.

Guardian of Water

Before Lord Jabu Jabu was Jabun, the father of Jabu Jabu. His rule over water was supreme, and he was quite protective of it. When the Zoras wanted to build a Domain for their kind, Jabun was against it. Then, King Zora Do Bon XIV decided to sit at the edge of Jabun's territory (this is the same lake at the top of Zora's Domain). He'd sit there for days and days on end. Jabun would try to ward him out, but it was to no avail. Eventually, Jabun gave in to King Zora Do Bon XIV and allowed them to created their Domain. Even though the guardian deity to the Zoras is now Lord Jabu Jabu, the Zora Kings continue to spend most of their time sitting at the top of Zora's Domain, as a respect to Jabun. Currently, the king is King Zora Do Bon XVI.

In terms of appearance, Jabun and Lord Jabu Jabu look very similar, except Jabun's skin was a dark, rusty red. His crown was also a lot more stylish and was actually the original holder of the three Spiritual Stones, as all three were embedded into his crown.

Guardian of Nature

Deku was father of the Great Deku Tree. He created the forests, though he grew old and eventually gave way to the Great Deku Tree, who lasted far longer. Deku was actually a tree capable of moving around. With his help, he was able to create a village for the Kokiri people to live in. When he passed on, the forest was temporarily named the Deku Forest, but when the Great Deku Tree grew up and became a great figure, he renamed the forest to the Kokiri Forest.

When Deku passed on, he actually transformed into a forest. This is known more commonly as the Lost Woods, for it's ever changing and never staying the same. It's likely that this area is still alive and maintained by Deku's spirit, though no one has been able to commune with him since he passed, not even his son (Great Deku Tree) or grandson (New Deku Tree).

Guardian of Shadow

Penumbra was the only humanoid being among the Six Guardians. However, his lower body was replaced with a void that seemed to suck down into nothingness, and his upper body was bathed in shadows. His shining purple eyes were the only visible part of where his head was, which was replaced by darkness. As much as he was Guardian of Shadows, he was also the Caretaker of Souls and was owner to the Old Shadow Temple. At the time that he reigned it, the ghosts of people that died but continued to roam the physical world could see him. He would allow them to pass on completely to the next realm, freeing their soul from the world they had died in, letting them rest in peace.

When Penumbra passed on, the Old Shadow Temple became something of a religious prison. It still remained for the same purpose, for Penumbra kept an altar that would allow ghosts to pass on simply by entering it, but the temple was expanded to also be a prison for traitors and criminals of the worst kind. It even became a place for execution, especially for those that followed Gauntrok. Had the Hylian King of the time not discretely sent Gauntrok and his army to the Old Shadow Temple, a war most likely would have broken out.

Of the Six Guardians, Penumbra is the only one that has almost nothing to trace back to, save for what's in Rokan's Grave and the Old Shadow Temple, which largely remains unknown.

Guardian of Light

Shortly before the Hyrulean Civil War, Luekke had many followers in a group by the name of the Followers of Light. They were a heavily religious group that spread the word and the teachings of Luekke across all of Hyrule. These ways were about love and harmony, and this helped maintain the peace in Hyrule. Ironically, Luekke himself was a large spirit with the form of a lion and the wings of a grand owl. He carried a trident, but it was only used to purify those who were bathed in hatred and sorrow.

Right as Luekke passed a natural death (at least, to public knowledge), he sent a message to all of his followers: "If you wish to find me again, seek out the Sacred Realm." Rauru was actually one his followers, and he ended up being the new Guardian of Light. When he sought the Sacred Realm, he also found out about the Triforce and its wish-granting powers. He realized its powers would shake the foundation of Hyrule, and so he stayed silent about it, but when others from the Followers of Light found out about the Sacred Realm and the Triforce, they thought Rauru was trying to claim it for himself. Hatred sparked, and eventually, news of the Sacred Realm and the true powers of the Triforce broke out among Hyrule. Soon after, the Hyrulean Civil War would break out, with many races claiming for ownership of it.

After the Hyrulean Civil War ceased, the Followers of Light ceased to exist, though a few loyal knights still pledge their loyalty and their lives to Luekke, in an effort to maintain the peace and harmony that Luekke once lived for. They believe Luekke still exists in some form and will return to bring peace and love to Hyrule should the land ever be ravaged by war again.

Guardian of Spirit

Long ago, as The Land of Hyrule was being crafted by Din, Nayru, and Farore, a massive blue-and-yellow-feathered bird roamed the skies. The Godesses themselves did not know whether they had created this beautiful creature or not, but its flight was always inspiring to watch. The bird was Roc, and the sky and the wind was its domain. Of all of the guardians, Roc lived for the longest period of time, though it did not pass on through a natural death. Roc would still be flying today were it not for Gauntrok, the previous Gerudo King. After Din turned to legend, the Triforce of Power was passed on to Roc, for he was to be the protector. However, Gauntrok sought this power and managed to trick Roc into wandering into the Gerudo Desert during a sandstorm. Roc was forced to land for a bit, when Gauntrok and his soldiers ambushed Roc, murdering the large bird. However, the Triforce of Power was then transferred to the Sacred Realm (which, at the time, no one knew about), preventing Gauntrok from getting his hands on it.

The legends of Roc still live on. As he flew, many of his feathers fell off, and they have since been picked up by fortunate passerbys. These feathers, despite being the size of a person, are completely weightless, and they allow anyone using them to float and jump around as if they weighed ten times less.

Due to the violent history surrounding Roc, his Spirit Magic was lost to time and never learned by anyone, not even the Gerudo.
